Consultation & Sketch-to-Permit-Set Drafting
Got an idea on a napkin, a hand sketch, or just a picture in your head? Let's sit down and talk it through. If you're local, I'll walk your site and your plans with you; if you're farther away, we'll do it over photos, video and a phone call. I'll ask the questions the building department is going to ask and help you sort out what's realistic before you spend money.
From there, I turn your sketch into a complete, to-scale CAD permit set: site plan, foundation, floor, framing and roof plans, elevations, sections, and the details and notes the county or city needs. Here at home I draw to the current Washington residential code and local design criteria for Cowlitz County, Longview, Kelso and the surrounding area, so your plans go in complete and organized.
Building in another state? I prepare permit drawings for projects across the U.S., drawn to the codes and submittal requirements of your local jurisdiction. Where a jurisdiction requires a licensed engineer’s or architect’s stamp, that stamp comes from your licensed professional, and I coordinate with them on the drawings. I don’t stamp drawings myself.
I prepare drawings for homes, additions, remodels, garages, shops and other residential projects up to four units, for owner-builders and contractors alike. When the building official requires engineering, like custom wind or earthquake bracing, tall foundation walls or long spans, the structural design and stamp come from a licensed professional engineer (a Washington-licensed engineer for projects here at home), and I coordinate their design into your plan set.
I'm a certified SOLIDWORKS professional with decades of drafting experience, from the Navy to sheet metal to industrial design. I'm not an architect or an engineer. I'm the drafter who gets your project on paper the right way.
